Introduction

My name is Jorge Juan Pedrosa Fernández, I am 35 years old, and I come from Ciudad Jardín, Málaga, Spain. I grew up surrounded by cars and engines — my parents and grandparents have owned and operated a traditional car workshop for generations — so automotive repair and maintenance have always been in my blood. In addition to running my own workshop, I also work with Volvo España, gaining insights into modern automotive trends and technologies.

The Idea

In response to growing environmental concerns and the evolving automotive industry, I founded Automóviles Pedrosa, an eco-sustainable automotive workshop focused on reducing the environmental impact of vehicle repair and maintenance. At Automóviles Pedrosa, we implement environmentally friendly practices such as recycling used motor oil and hazardous fluids responsibly, minimizing waste, and using biodegradable cleaning products and sustainable lubricants wherever possible. We also invest in energy-efficient equipment and LED lighting to lower our carbon footprint and support the maintenance of electric and hybrid vehicles alongside traditional internal combustion engines. Together, these initiatives position our workshop as a responsible partner in promoting sustainable automotive services.

Journey and Challenges

Transforming a traditional family-run workshop into a green business has not been without its challenges. One of the biggest obstacles was adapting to current regulations, including restrictions on having automotive repair workshops located within urban centers — a rule that forced us to rethink how we serve our local community while complying with legal and environmental requirements. This required careful planning, investment in sustainable technologies, and the development of new logistical solutions to maintain service quality without compromising environmental compliance. Another challenge has been educating customers and colleagues about why eco-friendly practices matter and how they benefit both the environment and long-term business sustainability. Patience, persistence, and continuous learning have been key to overcoming these hurdles.

Achievements and Impact

Since implementing our eco-sustainable practices, Automóviles Pedrosa has achieved meaningful results. We have significantly reduced waste and hazardous materials discharge through proper collection and recycling processes, contributing to a cleaner local environment.
